Posted May 17, 2019. Purchased a 2008 2.8 Diesel Limited recently from an auction for a very low price with expectations of engine issues - it has 275000 kilometers on clock. Starts well, has a slight miss but has poor acceleration and appears to be slipping. Have a look at the starter motor - it's down between the radiator & the engine - & check to see if their is a yellow cable with a spade connector on it. It's a common fault that this comes off. It's the signal cable from the ignition to tell the starter motor to fire. In the trade they call it the exciter cable.
